Frequently Asked Questions

Printing

Is Riso Printing economical?

Generally, Riso printing is the best value for runs of more than 50-100.

For basic flyers, we try to offer prices competitive or less than digital color copies. However, using fancy paper or many inks increases the cost.

What is your minimum quantity?

30 copies.

How much does it cost?

We have 3 price lists:

  • Standard – art prints, projects for institutions, etc.
  • Personal Project — non-commercial, lower budget projects for individuals
  • Discount – printing for low/no budget projects, especially activists, educators, etc. Offered at our discretion & as we can afford it. Not guaranteed.

When you contact us, let us know what bucket your project falls in. Then we will provide you a straightforward price.

What payment methods are accepted?

For walk-ins, we are
CASH ONLY! Bring cash!!

We don’t accept credit cards or Venmo. No exception, sorry 🙂

For non-profit and educational institutions, we can extend you Net 30 terms. We will send you invoice and you can send a check in the mail.

When are you open?

We are only open during the Print Cafe, or by appointment.

We are not setup for anytime access or independent use. Check out the fantastic Max’s Garage Press here in Berkeley.

How long does it take?

Standard turnaround is about 1 week. Large & complex orders may take 2-4 weeks.

Print Café walk-in projects are usually completed same day.

How should I format my files?

Designer’s checklist

For best results, prepare files in Adobe InDesign.

  • Add 1/4″ bleeds, when trimming is requested.
  • Export PDFs at 600 ppi quality.
  • For booklets, export as single pages (not spreads).
  • Provide a separate grayscale PDF for each ink color (unless using spot colors).

For everyday projects

Please provide PDF files if possible.

If you come to the print café we can help you with formatting.

How can I send large files?

You can send us large files using WeTransfer.com. Please do not send us Google Doc or iCloud links.

Our email is baygraphix {AT} protonmail.com.
